Common Sense is operated by PBSL Concepts Private Limited (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how information is used when you use the Common Sense Android app and this website.
Information you provide
You may browse the Learn feed without signing in. Registration and member features use your name, phone number, date of birth, gender, and the country, state and city you select. If you provide an optional email address, we use it for account or support communication. We also process your submitted posts, photos, comments, votes, saved lessons, learning activity, civic score and account preferences to provide the relevant features.
Why we use it
We use this information to authenticate accounts by phone OTP, operate profiles and community features, organise civic content by place, save your learning progress, respond to requests and maintain the safety and operation of the service.
Photos and permissions
You can choose to take a photo or select an image for a contribution. Camera or photo access is used for that action. You can refuse or revoke permissions in Android settings; some contribution features may then be unavailable. Do not upload other people's personal information or identifying images without an appropriate basis to do so.
Location
The app does not request GPS or background device location. It processes the country, state and city you enter or select to provide place-based account and content features.
Public contributions
Posts, submitted images and comments are community contributions and can be visible to other users. Treat anything you contribute as public. Do not include phone numbers, addresses, vehicle registration numbers, private documents or identifying details about others. Your account phone number, date of birth and gender are not intended as public contributions.
Service providers and disclosures
Hosting and authentication providers process information needed to deliver the service on our behalf. We may disclose information when required by applicable law or to address abuse and protect the service and its users. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising or behavioural tracking.
No advertising, analytics SDKs or payments
The app is free and contains no advertising, third-party analytics SDKs or payment features. Hosting infrastructure may process connection information such as IP addresses and request logs to serve and secure the app and website. This website does not use advertising cookies or add analytics scripts.
Storage, security and deletion
We use HTTPS for data transmission. No system can guarantee absolute security. Account data is retained while your account remains active. On account deletion, your account and associated posts, photos, comments and other account-linked data are deleted immediately. We do not retain a separate backup copy of deleted account data. Any legally required retention must be limited to the applicable obligation and communicated where permitted.
Your choices and requests
You can change Android permissions, choose whether to contribute, and delete your account from Profile → Delete Account. You can also request deletion without installing or opening the app through our account deletion page. Contact us for access, correction or privacy questions.
Children and families
The lessons promote civic awareness. Any child using the service should do so with appropriate parent or guardian involvement. Do not submit a child's personal information or identifiable photograph in a public contribution. Parents and guardians can contact us to request removal of information concerning a child.
